Catechists Needed

We still need catechists for this coming school year. Please prayerfully consider living out your faith by working with the children of our parish! We have been blessed with faith-filled catechists over the years but just like other ministries here, our ranks are thinning and we are looking for fresh faces to round out our program. The Church recognizes the parents as the primary educators of their children in their faith. Catechists are an important support for families to reinforce the faith practices children learn at home.

We meet the first three Sundays of each month from early October through April. Our calendar follows local school districts’ vacation schedules. Potential catechists are required to become Virtus certified which requires completing a one hour online video and brief exam regarding safe practices for interacting with children. Finally, for practical reasons, we ask that a catechist be able to commit to being available for each Sunday that classes are in session. However, because emergencies do come up, we are also in need of substitute teachers to step in as needed.
