Welcome, Samantha Jewett
Dear Parishioners,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying some of the beautiful weather we’re having. Fr. Rick has asked me to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. Thank you, Fr. Rick!
Before moving to Grand Rapids, my husband and I lived in Austin, Texas. Rob, my husband, worked as a musician while I was in education. I taught high school English and Reading, trained teachers, taught youth writing camps during the summers, and for my final three years, served as a high school librarian.
While I’m originally from Austin, my husband is from Grand Rapids and began to feel the pull of West Michigan and his family. We packed up and moved the summer of 2014. By the way, travelling 1300 miles with two cats isn’t something we’d recommend.
Prior to joining the St. Alphonsus team, I had the joy of working for Dominican Center at Marywood. Working with the Sisters was a true delight and one for which I remain grateful. St. Alphonsus has felt like a natural transition from Marywood.
Sewing and reading absorb the majority of my free time, while my husband continues his musical pursuits when he isn’t driving a bus for The Rapid. Together we enjoy visiting museums, exploring the area, and listening to jazz and classical music.
I’d like to thank everyone for welcoming me and Sandy for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I am so happy and grateful to be here.
Blessings, Samantha Jewett
