Volunteer Opportunity - SCRIP Program

What is SCRIP? SCRIP are gift cards you purchase from St. Alphonsus for the places you do business. SCRIP can be used like cash at hundreds of participating vendor locations. By purchasing SCRIP St. Alphonsus can earn a percentage of the card value. We have a small number of parishioners that currently purchase SCRIP to go toward their children’s tuition.

We would like to offer SCRIP cards to be purchased after the weekend Masses as a fundraiser for the church. We would have a select group of cards available to purchase, such as gas cards, groceries, and Amazon, things that everyone uses on a regular basis. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to coordinate the program. Someone that can find volunteers to be available after the Masses to sell the cards and also track what is being bought and what needs to be ordered. This is an easy way for our parish to make money. It just takes a little planning ahead of time on your part to purchase gift cards ahead of time before you shop. There is no need to sign up ahead of time and no fees to you. As an example, by purchasing a $100 Meijer scrip card, our parish would get $2.00 for doing absolutely nothing.

We would like to start by offering the sale of the cards once a month. If that goes well, then we could do it more often. Call the office at 451-3043 if you are willing to coordinate this program or if you have any questions.
