Tax Program Volunteers

Are you ready for something new to do this winter? Consider volunteering with our Volunteer income Tax Assistance (VITA) program! As part of the West Michigan VITA Collegiate Partnership and in partnership with St. Alphonsus Parish, volunteers will assist, prepare and file taxes free of charge starting January 26th.

Train for your chosen volunteer role (greeter, in-take specialist, or tax preparer) at home and online with support and assistance provided by the experienced VITA team. A testing open house will be held January 14th to answer questions in-person or assist with required IRS certifications. To volunteer, email: stalstaxprogram@gmail.com

Be part of the team that has volunteered for more than a decade, bringing home more than 6 million dollars in tax credits and refunds to our community, or make use of our services as a client. Appointments will be taken via phone starting January 20th.

The Covid pandemic has changed much in the last year and this season’s tax preparation will require masking and social distancing from volunteers and residents alike. What won’t change is the commitment to make quality tax preparation available to all who need it.
