Lighting Upgrade

Over the past few months you may have noticed a difference in the church lights. If you have not noticed a difference, then that is even better. Over the past few months our maintenance director has replaced 106 lights in the church with new LED lights. The chandelier lights were replaced in 1978 with new recessed lights and a new dimmer system. The dimmer system started failing about 10 years ago and has been nursed along until this year. The system used to be able to turn on most of the lights in the church, but had lost the ability to dim many of the different light groups. It has become obsolete and no replacement parts were available. NOW with the ability to replace all the lights with LED lights, we have been able to lower the power needed to light the church. This has made a huge difference. What used to take one week of power to light the church will now light the church for 10 weeks. To compare, it used to take 520 household 60w lamps to light the church, now it only takes 52 lamps to light the church. With that being said, and with the lower power needs, the dimmer system was more reasonable to replace at this point. The old dimmer system was torn out and replaced with a modern lighting system that has many new features and is more user friendly. None of this could have happened without the help from the Foundation. With help from the Foundation, the Parish Center, sacristy, choir room, and many of the other lights are currently receiving LED upgrades. The LED lights will not only last longer but have also helped us save money on our electricity bill. Thank you to both our maintenance director and to the Foundation.
