Hospice Today Presentations
Join the Young at Heart group for a three-part series on Hospice Today presented by Jan Amato and the Bereavement Team from Emmanuel Hospice. The series starts on Monday, September 19, and continues on October 17 and November 16. Lunch will precede each presentation, starting at noon, with the presentation starting at 12:30pm. Monday, September 19th 12:30-1:15pm: “What is Hospice Today?” Hospice is about living life to the fullest, making lasting memories and using innovative therapies to improve the quality of life. Hospice strives to create an individualized, unique care plan that serves the body, mind and spirit of each patient and their family.
Monday, October 17th 12:30-1:15pm: “Non-pharmacological Pain Management.” Hospice addresses symptom management through the mind, body and spirit aimed at improving the body’s ability to contain pain and anxiety. Together we will discuss & demonstrate holistic techniques including mindfulness, massage, and deep breathing. Care of the spirit and essential oils as tools to manage pain symptoms will also be explored. An Education Nurse from Emmanual Hospice will be present.
Wednesday, November 16th 12:30-1:15p,: “Be Remembered.” How do you want to be remembered? What do you want to pass along to future generations? At Be Remembered, you can record how you want to be remembered by your family, friends and loved ones, even after you leave this life. You can record stories of your life, add pictures and video, store private messages that are delivered to loved ones after you pass.
