Blessings

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

As always, I pray that you are blessed. I also hope that all of the mothers of our parish had a beautifully and relaxing Mother’s Day. As you are all aware, this week was also our long anticipated “Mission Trip.” Not only was it delayed because of the pandemic, but I also understand that the team has wanted to do something local for a while now. Even though we had to delay the official “Mission Trip,” we have been developing a relationship withthe people of Baldwin over these last couple of years.

You probably know that it is the poorest county in Michigan, but did you know that there is not a single fast food location in the county? Unless you count Joan’s ice cream shop. Their resources are extremely limited, and so, we have been sharing our blessings with them. We are very fortunate to have a lot of support, not only from all of our generous parishioners, but other churches and companies like Meier’s. In fact, there are times when we have almost too much, especially clothing. And some times the Food Trucks leave us with a bit of extra. And so, just as we challenge you to share your blessings, we also share ours.

We hope to build on this relationship and continue to share our gifts. My understanding is that one of the projects this past week was to finish the construction of a type of pantry that Habitat for Humanity has been constructing. Now we hope to help them stock the shelves. All of this good work is contagious. It is also my understanding that some of the people who own cabins in the area and were never really aware of the economic situation have taken notice and have started their own projects to help the community that they have been recreating in for these past years. Our hope is to keep you informed in ways you may be able to help. If you have some ideas or resources please contact Michelle. And finally, the one thing we can all share are our prayers. Let us keep our sisters and brothers in our prayers.
