Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
In your October-November Envelope Packet, you will find an envelope marked “Redemptorist Solidarity Fund.” The purpose of this envelope is to ask your help with our world-wide Redemptorist missions. Our General Government in Rome has mandated that a collection will take place in every public Redemptorist place of worship to strengthen the Solidarity Fund.
And what is that you ask? The Solidarity Fund is an instrument of the General Government in Rome to of- fer financial assistance to units of the Congregation throughout the world for the Mission of the Congrega- tion. Priorities of this Fund are: Emergency situations such as the hurricanes that ravaged the Caribbean where we have many houses; Formation of CSSR students such as those in Rome and other interprovincial programs; Pastoral projects for new pastoral initiatives. Many of our communities in Dominica and St. Thomas and St. Croix suffered extensive damage from the hurricanes.
Rather than take up a second collection I though it wiser to make an envelope available and you could make a donation at your convenience. We will forward the funds to our Denver Provincial Office who will in turn send it on to Rome.
On behalf of the Redemptorists throughout the world, I thank you for your generous support to assist our Redemptorist Missions through this Solidarity Fund.
May God bless you for your generosity and support! Gratefully in the Redeemer,
Fr. Pat, C.Ss.R.
In line with the above, we are all being asked to help with the general disaster relief efforts of Hurricanes Irma and Maria along with the two earthquakes in Mexico. The second collection this weekend is for that effort. Contributed funds will be used to support the reconstruction and pastoral needs of the Church as well as humanitarian and recovery assistance through Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services. Thank you for your generosity to help those in very needy times.
