The Music Ministry at St. Alphonsus includes numerous volunteers and is an extension of our community. They are a group of dedicated people who believe that through prayer and song they can lead the congregation to sing God’s praises. All of the music groups meet from September through June. Each group has its own schedule of rehearsals and Masses. As a member of the music ministry, you’ll have many opportunities to sing, play, and perform. Not only do we participate in weekly Liturgies, but also in special services – Missions, Holy Days and a variety of other events, depending on the group. Cantors and small groups continue throughout the summer.
St. Alphonsus’ Music Groups
Adult Choir: High School and up. We are always in need of adult singers to enhance our liturgy. You do not need to read music, just love singing and are able to carry a tune! We meet every Wednesday from 7:00-8:30pm, to 9:00pm if needed. We will sing at 11:00am Masses except for 9:00am on the second Sundays of the month.
Adult Contemporary Ensemble: High School and up. This is a small group of 4-part voices and instrumentalists that sing traditional and contemporary music. We meet on Saturdays at 4:00pm before we sing at 5:15pm Mass.
Adult Bell Choir: This is a unique and fun ensemble that rings bells! Some basic music experience is helpful, but not required. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 5:45 to 6:45pm. This choir plays at one Mass each month.
Cantors: High School and up. This is a ministry for those with strong singing voices and an ability to lead the congregation in song.
Middle and High School Praise Choir: Grades 7th through 12th. We will meet on Sundays at 4:00pm and sing at all Sunday 5:15pm Masses with the praise band.
Middle and High School Praise Band: Grades 7th through 12th. We will meet on Sundays at 4:00pm and sing at all Sunday 5:15pm Masses with the praise choir.
