Sr. Jean Milhaupt, OP – In Memoriam
Sr. Jean Milhaupt, OP, entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the age of 88 after 65 years of religious life.

Sister Jean is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Brown and Marilyn Hefferan and her brother, John (Peg) Milhaupt of Grand Rapids; many friends, Sisters in her Dominican Community, the Aquinas College Community and the St. Alphonsus Parish Community. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sister Jean Milhaupt’s name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
Celebration and Fundraiser – November 12
On Saturday November 12, we’ll celebrate the 30th anniversary of Virginia (Fortier) Grile donating her kidney to her sister, Kathy (Fortier) Reimer. Virginia’s beautiful gift to Kathy has lasted 30 years. It’s time to celebrate! The evening beings with Mass at 5:15pm followed by dinner, dance and much more in the St. Alphonsus Parish Center from 6:00pm to midnight. Music by OTC. Construction Update – September 6
The painting/repair work continues on the church interior. During the third stage of painting, all entrances to the church will remain open. Handicap access to the church is available through the west entrance via the parking lot ramp or through the east entrance via the circle drive.
During this project the following Masses will be celebrated in the church: 8:00am and 5:15pm Saturday; 7:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am and 5:15pm Sunday. All weekday Masses will be celebrated in the chapel located in the Parish Center Lounge. Enter through the doors on Carrier Street and follow the signs to the chapel.
RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process for welcoming adults into full communion in the Catholic Faith. Our Inquiry sessions will begin on October 2nd and will continue for four weeks. Inquiry is a time to answer questions and earnestly begin the process of RCIA. Please contact the rectory, 451-3043, if you have an interest or you know someone who my be interested in becoming a full member of the Catholic faith.
