This Lent, St. Alphonsus Parish Community will be joining millions of Catholics across the country by participating in Operation Rice Bowl. Operation Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, the international humanitarian agency of the Catholic Community in the United States, that invites people to place a cardboard container (rice bowl) in their homes and put the money that is save from their fasting and the things they give up for Lent. At the end of Lent, bring the rice bowl back to church. The money collected is use for development projects in poor nations and for hunger relief in the Grand Rapids Diocese. Rice Bowl are available at the entrances of the church.
